Gigi begins to confide in Alex and asks him questions about men in general. "Why's he not calling me?" "Do you think he still wants to see me?" "Would you call a girl after the first date?"Gigi is so insecure in this movie that she needs Alex to refocus her thoughts and to tell her that everything will end up working out. Alex responds to these questions and tells her that, "He's never gonna call you." "If he was into you, you'd know it."
The women in this movie are constantly portrayed as needing help, or needing a man to feel complete. The men are portrayed stereotypical as well. They can't seem to handle monogamy or any type of commitment in the beginning of the movie. It is until Alex and Gigi fall in love after a few weeks of friendship. Alex realizes that Gigi's cute and quirky worries are attractive and exactly what he wants in a partner.
This movie affirms certain ideals that are stated in Lippman, Ward and Seabrook's study. Heavier exposure to romantic comedies such as this one, only enhance the Ideologies of Love, the idea of the One and Only, and stronger tendency to feel that Love finds a way. In this movie there are a few happy endings where love does find a way, and there is one and only love to be found.
